
A gaggle of activists – together with Swedish campaigner Greta Thunberg – who had been detained aboard a Gaza-bound help boat, have been taken to a Tel Aviv airport for deportation, Israel stated on Tuesday.
The yacht carrying 12 folks making an attempt to deliver humanitarian help to Gaza was towed to the Israeli port metropolis of Ashdod on Monday, after it was seized by Israeli forces within the early hours.
Dismissing it as a “selfie yacht”, Israel stated the passengers had arrived at Ben Gurion Airport to return to their house international locations.
“Those that refuse to signal deportation paperwork and depart Israel will likely be introduced earlier than a judicial authority,” the Israeli overseas ministry stated on X.
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), the activist group working the vessel, stated all campaigners had been “being processed and transferred into the custody of Israeli authorities”.
“They could be permitted to fly out of Tel Aviv as early as tonight,” it stated on social media.
Organisers stated the Madleen was aiming to deliver a “symbolic” quantity of help to Gaza in defiance of an Israeli naval blockade. They stated it was intercepted by Israeli forces in worldwide waters.
