“ Write One Track”
In June 2024, I acquired to go to the Stable Sound Competition in North Adams, Massachusetts, which is organized by the band Wilco. I carried out a few of my new songs, and I acquired to interview Jeff Tweedy, the lead singer of Wilco, on stage as a part of the competition. Jeff, along with being in Wilco and the band Tweedy, and placing out his solo albums, has additionally written three books. And this dialog was targeted on his second ebook, which is known as Write One Track. And although it’s referred to as Write One Track, I feel it really comprises plenty of perception about creativity on the whole, and life on the whole. I’ve beneficial it to pals of mine who aren’t songwriters. And, as you’ll hear, the dialog will get fairly private for me, as a result of I acquired a lot out of the ebook personally. It helped me with a number of the blocks that I’d been dealing with in my very own songwriting, at a fairly profound degree. And once I was listening again to this recording, I’d sort of forgotten about how a lot I put on the market in entrance of Jeff and the hundreds of people that have been there watching. However I’m glad the dialog was recorded, partly simply so I may revisit it, but in addition in order that I may share it right here on Track Exploder. I hope you’ll get pleasure from it, too.
You should purchase Write One Track by Jeff Tweedy right here (by way of Bookshop.org) or right here (by way of Amazon) or on Wilco’s web site.
You’ll be able to hearken to the Wilco episode of Track Exploder right here. I additionally interviewed Jeff alongside together with his son Spencer, who can be his bandmate in Tweedy, about their relationship and musical partnership, for an episode of my podcast Companions. You’ll be able to hearken to that right here.
