The 2 label juggernauts have spent years defining and increasing the boundaries of drum & bass, particularly the legendary Hospital Information, a cornerstone of the UK scene since 1996. Now, their debut joint compilation units a daring new precedent for cross-continental creativity within the style.
Born from an intensive four-day writing camp at London’s TYX Studios, the compilation is a high-voltage showcase of types from liquid soul to warehouse-shaking neurofunk. Every monitor has been crafted by a collective dream staff of Monstercat and Hospital signees.
The rollout started with day by day single releases, every revealing a brand new sonic dimension. The week began with “What Are We Proving” by hayve and DRIIA, who open the compilation with a slow-burning, emotionally charged odyssey. DRIIA’s poignant lyrics soften into hayve’s swelling basslines, delivering a monitor that pulses with introspection and uncooked power. DNMO and SOLAH’s “Discover Peace” follows, its classic keys and crisp drums weaving via the latter’s soul-drenched vocals.
On the heavier finish of the spectrum, “IDGAF” by Anaïs and hayve roars with razor-sharp sound design and unrelenting bass. In the meantime, “Starchild” by Bensley, BOP and Degs blends celestial soundscapes with rapid-fire lyricism to manage a dose of euphoria wrapped in rhythmic precision.
